Thanks for using Black Pearl Mail for your new email branding, analytics and signature management. Note that you will need to have Admin access in order to implement the instructions below.

How it works
The globally distributed Black Pearl Mail technology applies your branding and signatures on outgoing emails. This allows branding to be applied consistently on all emails, even when you send from your mobile phone or tablet. It also lets you manage your branding and signatures centrally in the online dashboard, and generates analytics and reporting on your outgoing email traffic e.g. Sender, Recipient, Subject, Date sent, received and opened.
As your new email branding is applied after the email is sent you should remove your old signature in your email client (desktop, laptop, tablet and/or mobile devices).
We highly respect your privacy and security, and as such do not store the content of your emails.
To have your new email branding applied, follow the instructions below. Remember, we're always on hand if you get stuck or have any feedback on these instructions.
If you have existing connectors, then it's up to you whether you create a new connector or modify an existing one. The process below describes how to route your outbound email via a single connector through the Black Pearl Mail platform. We're happy to discuss what might be the appropriate solution with your environment.

How to Create a New Send Connector
Instructions are based on Exchange 2007 SP1.
- Open the Exchange Management Console, then Perform one of the following steps:
- On a computer that has the Edge Transport server role installed, select Edge Transport, and then in the work pane, click the Send Connectors tab.
- To create a Send connector on a Hub Transport server role, in the console tree, expand Organization Configuration, select Hub Transport, and then in the work pane, click the Send Connectors tab.
- In the action pane, click New Send Connector. The New SMTP Send Connector wizard starts.
- On the Introduction page, follow these steps:
- In the Name: field, type a meaningful name for this connector – e.g. Internet mail via Black Pearl
- In the Select the intended use for this connector: field, select Custom. Click Next.
- On the Address space page, do one of the following:
- On a Hub Transport server or Edge Transport server, click the drop-down arrow located next to Add and select SMTP Address Space. Enter the following information in the SMTP Address Space dialog box:
Address Enter the wildcard character (*) and make sure the checkbox to Include all subdomains is selected (automatic when the wildcard is used).
Cost Use the default cost of 1
- To allow all the Hub Transport servers in the Exchange organization to use this Send connector, don't select Scoped Send connector. To limit the scope of this Send connector so that it can be used only by other Hub Transport servers that exist in the same Active Directory site, select Scoped Send connector. When you are finished, click Next.
- On the Network settings page:
- Select Route all mail through the following smart hosts
- Click Add. In the Add Smart Host dialog box, select Fully qualified domain name (FQDN)
- Enter smtp.blackpearlmail.com. Click OK.
- Generally, do not select the checkbox Use the External DNS Lookup settings on the transport server - Select this checkbox only if you want to use a specific list of external DNS servers instead of the DNS servers configured on the network adapters of the source servers configured for this Send connector.
Important: Verify that you have configured the external DNS servers list by using the Set-TransportServer cmdlet, or by using the External DNS Lookups tab in the properties of the Hub Transport server object or the Edge Transport server object.
- Click Next.
- On the Smart host security settings page, select None. Click Next.
- The Source Server page only appears on Hub Transport servers. By default, the Hub Transport server that you are currently working on is listed as a source server. To add a further source server, click Add. In the Select Hub Transport servers and Edge Subscriptions dialog box, select the Hub Transport servers or the subscribed Edge Transport servers that will be used as the source server for sending messages to the address space that you provided in the steps above. The list of source servers can contain all Hub Transport servers or all subscribed Edge Transport servers, but not a mix of both. When you are finished adding additional source servers, click OK.
- To add more source servers, click Add and repeat this step.
- To remove an existing source server, select the source server, and then click .
- When you are finished, click Next.
- On the New connector page, review the Configuration Summary for the connector.
If you want to modify the settings, click Back. To create the Send connector by using the settings in the Configuration Summary, click New.
- On the Completion page, click Finish.
- In the Send Connectors tab, check that the new Send Connector is listed and its status is shown as Enabled.
- Check the Properties of the new Send Connector to ensure all settings are appropriate for your organisation. In particular, note that the default Maximum message size is usually set to 10240 KB.
